Welcome back for another fun-filled challenge here at Word Art Wednesday. In my personal (and humble) opinion, the best challenge blog out here in the crafty social media world. We've been going strong for well over fifteen years now. This challenge blog started in 2011 when its Founder, Cassandra Cushman, got the idea to have a challenge that's centered around God's holy Word (the Bible). She felt it was a way to share our love for the Lord and our love for art. I took over some time in 2012 and have been running things since then. But....we're in for a real treat because Cassandra is joining us this month as our Guest Designer. We have a fabulous challenge waiting for you all, so let's get started right away, shall we?
The scripture of focus that was used to create the lovely piece of word art you see below is Psalm 127:4-5(a) which says, "As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are the children of the youth, happy is he that hath his quiver full of them". As we approach Father's Day, this verse from the Bible is often used to describe a good man/father, etc. It tells us that a good man is prepared much like a soldier/warrior preparing for battle. The soldier or warrior would ensure that his quiver is full of arrows so that when he must draw one, he's ready for whatever comes his way. The warrior knows that God is with him and that he has the arrows he needs to protect himself. Being prepared is important. Next, this verse compared that good man/mighty solider or warrior's arrows (his preparedness) to the children a young man might have. It says that the man who "has his quiver full of children" is happy. Does that mean you need to have children to be fulfilled and do all that Christ asks of you? Certainly not. What it is saying, however, is that a man who does have a child, or even a whole bunch of children, is happy. There's a certain joy that comes from fatherhood (parenting in general) that God knew was similar to the feeling you get when you're well prepared and have all you need to face life's trials. The wise warrior would fill his quiver with arrows. The wise man seeks God's knowledge and applies it to his life so that he can teach his children (and their children and their children's children, etc.) God's ways. When we live our lives as close as possible to way God has instructed us to live it (applying God's Word/the Bible to your life), we are ready for whatever life sends our way. Our quiver is full and we're preparing the next generation of Christians how to be prepared to live for Christ. It's not always easy breezy, but it's a blessed life that God will surely lead when you seek Him. Is your quiver full? Let your father or someone in your life know that you appreciate their heritage of faith. Thank them for allowing you to be an arrow in their quiver. Praise God for all those who seek after Him and bless others with their faith.
As always, you are welcome to save the word art to your computer; but you are never required to use it in order to play along or to win in our challenges. We welcome you to share all of your art with us; remembering that Anything Goes as long as it's family friendly. This includes any type of altered or digital art (not just limited to cards). You may link up to five (5) projects each week for a total of ten (10) entries for each two-week challenge. Any entries over that limit will be deleted and will make you ineligible to win. The more you enter, the more you increase your odds of winning. It is our desire that God's Word will be a blessing and an encouragement to you as we share it. If you have any questions about the rules, be sure to read the complete list of rules found under our Page tab marked "Challenge Rules". Because our ultimate goal is to honor God, we have no other choice but to delete any entries that do not adhere to our guidelines. Please know that this doesn't mean we are judging anyone. We're not. We are simply attempting to honor God and follow His rules. Please let us know if you have any questions about anything; and thank you for your understanding and participation.
