Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! Welcome by the Word Art Wednesday Challenge Blog. We're so glad you're here, and we look forward to having you play along and share your art with us. We have a FABULOUS new sponsor for this challenge....Stamp Simply Clear Stamps. We're so grateful for the support of all the amazing stores in the crafting community who support our challenges, and we encourage you to stop by and thank them for their willingness to help out this way. We're really excited, so let's get started!
The word art for this challenge comes from Colossians 3:14 which says "And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness". This chapter (3) of Colossians speaks to us about the characteristics of our faith, and explains how we are to live our lives in faith...putting off anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, swearing, etc. It also explains that once we are saved (have accepted the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ), we have become a new (and different) person who will strive to be like Him. It reminds us to be holy (following the example of the Lord Jesus Christ) by showing kindness, being humble and meek, forgiving one another....and most of all, showing one another a perfect and complete love (charity). This will help us to achieve this "bond of perfectness". Of course, we realize this doesn't literally mean that we become "perfect". After all, he wouldn't have reminded us not to be angry, or to put off wrath and malice, etc. if He knew we would suddenly become perfect. No, God realizes that we are not perfect. But by demonstrating this perfect love (charity) in the best way we know how, we show God and the rest of the world that we are His, and that He resides in us and guides us. We will still make mistakes. That's because we are sinful. If we weren't still sinful, we wouldn't need a Savior. God is simply instructing and reminding us that once we are saved, we should show the world that we are new creatures in Him; and we should strive toward being the best versions of ourselves that we can be. This is how we find true happiness in this life, and how we bring honor to Him. Take a peek at Colossians 3 this week. You are sure to be encouraged by His precious Word!
As always, you are welcome to save the free scripture/word art file to your computer, but are never required to use it in order to play along in our challenges. We welcome you share your all your art with us; remembering that Anything Goes as long as it's family-friendly, and uses an encouraging or uplifting sentiment. This includes any type of altered or digital art (not just limited to cards). You may link up to five (5) projects each week. The more you enter, the more you increase your odds of winning. It is our desire that God's Word will be a blessing and encouragement to you as we share it. If you have any questions about the rules, be sure to read the complete list of rules under our page tab for "Challenge Rules". Because our ultimate goal is to honor God, we have no other choice but to delete any entries that do not adhere to our guidelines. Please know that this doesn't mean we are judging anyone. We're simply attempting to honor God and follow His rules. Let us know if you have any questions, and thanks for your understanding and participation!
