Hello, all our creative friends! We're so glad to have you join us again, and we have another great challenge for you all this week. We'd like to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow. We encourage you to take time before you eat your turkey, stuffing and goodies to say a prayer and THANK GOD for all He has given you, and to go around the table and have each person mention something for which they are grateful. It's a really fun Thanksgiving tradition, and God LOVES to hear us thank Him out loud.
Our word art file for this week focusses on a beautiful scripture. It's James 1:17 and it tells us that "every good gift and every perfect gift" is from God. The reason this verse separates good and perfect is because it is referring to both the gift, as well as the act of giving the gift. Every good thing in our lives, no matter how big or how small and regardless of whether it is a physical blessing or an emotional blessing, it ALL comes from above. This verse calls God, the giver of all gifts, "the Father of Lights". It goes on to say that with God there is "no variableness, neither shadow of turning". This means that our precious God, Jesus Christ, NEVER changes and His precious Word never changes. We can always count on a religion and a God who will never change. Other "religions" can't say that. Many change their doctrine "as the light gets brighter" or as God "reveals wisdom" to men. PRAISE GOD that we can count on a Savior, Jesus Christ, who NEVER CHANGES. His promises never change, and the fact that He gives us SO many blessings NEVER changes. WOW! What tremendous gifts He gives. The "Father of Lights" is also a reference to God as the source of ALL LIGHT. This includes physical, intellectual, moral and spiritual light. Without God, there would be COMPLETE darkness. Darkness physically (no sun or moon), darkness in our brains (no thoughts), darkness in our decisions (no morals), and darkness in our souls (no chance of Heaven). That says A LOT! I don't know about you, but I DEFINITELY DON'T want to be around when God pulls His presence (His Holy Spirit) from this Earth. Complete darkness in every way? NO THANKS! We are SO blessed to be offered "every good gift and every perfect gift", and all we have to do to avoid darkness (TOTAL darkness in every aspect), is to accept the most important gift God ever gave us....His precious Son, Jesus Christ. Isn't it interesting to see how, when you pull apart a single Bible verse like this, you can clearly see how it links His precious Word together? He is the light we need in this dark world. Accept His gift today, and you'll NEVER be in the dark again.
As always, you are welcome to save this week's free scripture/word art file to your computer, but are not required to use it in order to play along in our challenges. We welcome you share your art with us; remembering that Anything Goes as long as it's family-friendly, and uses an encouraging or uplifting sentiment. This includes any type of altered or digital art (not just limited to cards). You may link up to five (5) projects each week. The more you enter, the more you increase your odds of winning. It is our desire that God's Word will be a blessing and encouragement to you each week. If you have any questions about the rules, be sure to read the complete list of rules under our page tab for "Challenge Rules". Because our ultimate goal is to honor God, we have no other choice but to delete any entries that do not adhere to these guidelines. Let us know if you have any questions, and thanks for your understanding and participation!
