Challenge #135 - Anything Goes

Welcome back, friends!  We have SO many things for which we can be grateful.  One of the MANY blessings to us here at Word Art Wednesday is our weekly word art.  The beautiful word art provided each week has been created for us by our talented Word Art Designer, Karen Murray.  God has given Karen special gifts and talents, just as He has given each of us gifts and talents.  What a blessing to us, here at Word Art Wednesday, that Karen has chosen to use her God-given talents to glorify the name of our precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by creating art using His precious Word.  We are SO grateful for her diligent hard work in providing these beautiful word art files for us each week.  You can see her blog, and more of her work, here on her lovely blog Paper Craft Memories.

This week, our scripture is Proverbs 17:6, and it tells us that "children's children are the crown of old men" - which means, quite simply, that grandchildren are a blessing to aging men.  What's sad, however, is that so many times in life.....when we get busy with our own lives, we don't always make time for relationships, and we don't always find time to put those crowns on our fathers' heads.  Whether you had a wonderful childhood, or you were hurt as a child of a divorced family, or you had conflict in your home, or...(we could insert a LONG LIST of IFS here), we don't always make healing in our relationships a priority, and it's A SHAME!  God's Word tells us that grandchildren are as a crown to old men, and it literally makes them feel like royalty to be surrounded by their offspring.  We know this is true because the second part of the verse tells us that OUR GLORY is our father ("the glory of children are their fathers).  OK, maybe he wasn't always there for you.  And I will GUARANTEE that he made mistakes.  Please remember that parents are only human.  WE haven't been "perfect parents", and our children love us.  WE aren't perfect Christians, and yet, our Heavenly Father loves us.  We encourage you to let go of the past, forgive where forgiveness in needed, and put that crown where it belongs - on the head of an old man.  He needs to know and enjoy his grandchildren, just like we need to know and enjoy him.  There's no time like the present to reach out.  My pastor often says that when you have a problem, you need to "build a bridge and get over it".  You will feel SO much better if you are able to let go of any hurt or bitterness, and restore relationships.  None of us is perfect, but we ALL want to wear our crown in old age.  Let those grandchildren be that crown.  And then, when we get to Heaven some day, we can take our crowns and lay them at the feet of Jesus, knowing we lived for Jesus with no regrets.

As always, you are welcome to save this week's free scripture/word art file to your computer, but are not required to use it in order to play along in our challenges.   We welcome you share your art with us; remembering that Anything Goes as long as it's family-friendly, and uses an encouraging or uplifting sentiment. This includes any type of art (not just limited to cards).  You may link up to 5 projects each week. The more you enter, the more you increase your odds of winning.  It is our desire that God's Word will be a blessing and encouragement to you each week. If you have any questions about the rules, be sure to read the complete list of rules under our page tab for "Challenge Rules".  Because our ultimate goal is to honor God, we have no other choice but to delete any entries that do not adhere to these guidelines (dark images).  Let us know if you have any questions, and thanks for your understanding and participation!

We hope that they will be a blessing to you!

All of my siblings live close to our parent's home so our children all grew up to be very close to their grandparents. Indeed the children are such a blessing!
