Welcome back for another great challenge this week at Word Art Wednesday. We are SO BLESSED by your art and we thank you so much for linking up with us. We pray for you, we praise God for you, and we appreciate you. We have two AMAZING prizes up for grabs again this week, and we are so happy you're here. We hope this week's post will be a blessing to you!
This week's word art comes to us from Psalm Chapter 146. This beautiful psalm describes what happens when people place their trust in anyone or anything other than the one true God of the Bible. The third verse in this chapter warns that when we place our trust in men, or institutions (groups of men - as some do), there is no real help. And in verse four, it goes on to say that these people will cause the spirit to depart from them (his breath goeth forth) and that they will return to the earth because his own thoughts begin to perish as he allows the men (or institution of men) to lead him. This is so sad. We have so many lost people who place their faith in "religions" that teach contrary to the Word of God. Yet they use the Bible to base their false teachings. This psalm teaches us that our trust, our faith, needs to be placed in NOTHING LESS than the God of Jacob who is the LORD (remember that this word LORD in all capital letters is Yahweh in the Old Testament and Jesus Christ in the New Testament). When we place our trust anywhere else, we separate ourselves from Him and miss out on His blessings (verses 8-9). Only the true God of Jacob (Jesus Christ) can "open the eyes of the blind" (those who are placing their trust in anything or anyone other than God, Jesus Christ, and His precious Word) or those that "are bowed down" (meaning they're listening to the teachings of men-contrary to the Word). We see this again in the New Testament in 1 Corinthians 2:5 - "that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God." This week's verse makes it very clear where we need to place our trust - "Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God." We aren't trying to call out any "religious" groups, and we don't judge people - WE don't have the right to judge. But GOD DOES! God's Word is very clear about this, and we believe in the Word of God and ALL that it teaches. We just want everyone to be able to experience the sweet peace and true happiness that comes only though a relationship with the ONE and ONLY God - the God of Jacob - Jesus Christ.
As always, you are welcome to save this week's free scripture/word art file to your computer, but are not required to use it in order to play along in our challenges. We welcome you share your art with us; remembering that Anything Goes as long as it's family-friendly, and uses an encouraging or uplifting sentiment. This includes any type of art (not just limited to cards). You may link up to 5 projects each week. The more you enter, the more you increase your odds of winning. It is our desire that God's Word will be a blessing and encouragement to you each week. If you have any questions about the rules, be sure to read the complete list of rules under our page tab for "Challenge Rules". Because our ultimate goal is to honor God, we have no other choice but to delete any entries that do not adhere to these guidelines. Let us know if you have any questions, and thanks for your understanding and participation!
