Some of you may be more familiar with a translation of this week's scripture/word art (1 Corinthians 13:4-7) other than the KJV version - one that perhaps uses the word LOVE rather than the word CHARITY. The reason for this difference is because, translated originally from the Greek, this word means "agape" which is a different, more perfect, form of love. It is not translated as the same word for the type of love between a man and a woman (that word is eros). And it is not the same word that it used to describe the love of friendship (that word is phileo). This particular scripture from 1 Corinthians chapter 13, is translated from the word "caritas" and it basically means "benevolence or alms-giving". Agape characterizes God, and what He manifested in the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. It is far more than mutual affection. It expresses an unselfish esteem for the object of its love. The love we receive from Jesus, the Lord God, is completely undeserved and without thought of return. What a blessing to know that He loves us this much.
We would like to use LOVE as our theme this week. This does not mean that you have to use the word love (or even charity) on your project. It is more of just a suggestion that you reflect during this week about the deep, perfect "agape" love that God feels towards us. It is our desire that as you reflect on this deep love that He has for you, that you will thank Him, praise Him, and use this wonderful gift to inspire you to create something that shows us how grateful you are for the love He has for you. What a wonderful thing it is to fully know this love, and to be loved in this way. It has really inspired our Design Team this week. Just wait until you see their beautiful art. Being loved by the Lord is exciting, and makes us want to share His love through our art. We hope you will do the same.
As always, feel free to save this free weekly word/scripture art to your computer. You are welcome to use it in your entry, but not required to do so. As long as you use an encouraging or uplifting sentiment on your project, that is fine. You can also link more than one project each week (up to 5). The more, the merrier. We just hope that God's Word will be a blessing and encouragement to you each week. If you have any questions about the rules, be sure to read the complete list of rules under our page tab for "Challenge Rules".
